Overview
The Arc A770 8 GB is the smaller frame buffer version of Intel's first flagship discrete desktop graphics card, built on the full ACM-G10 die with 32 Xe-cores, 512 XMX matrix engines and 32 ray tracing units on TSMC N6. Intel rates it at 262 dense INT8 TOPS on the XMX engines, the same figure it prints for the 16 GB card, because compute is identical between the two. For local inference the 8 GB frame buffer is the binding constraint rather than the throughput: it will hold a 7 billion parameter model at four-bit quantisation with little room for context, where the 16 GB card is comfortable. Intel publishes no FP32, FP16, BF16 or FP64 rate for any consumer Arc card, so this row carries INT8 only and nothing has been derived to fill the gaps. The card is well served by Intel's oneAPI and OpenVINO stacks and by llama.cpp's SYCL backend, and its AV1 hardware encoder remains one of the reasons the A-series still turns up in transcoding boxes.
