Overview

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is the card the whole ray tracing generation was measured against, and it is in this database as the last mainstream NVIDIA GPU with no tensor cores at all. That is the useful comparison: 11.3 TFLOPS of FP32 and 484 GB/s of GDDR5X bandwidth, with no half-precision or integer matrix path underneath it, against an RTX 2080 Ti of the same class that adds 113.8 TFLOPS of FP16 tensor throughput and 227.7 TOPS of INT8. NVIDIA's own Turing whitepaper prints the two side by side and marks every tensor row on the 1080 Ti column NA. For anything that runs in half precision, which is most modern inference, that gap is the generational step rather than the shader rate.
