Overview
Radeon VII was the first 7 nm gaming GPU and remains the only consumer card ever built on Vega 20, the die AMD otherwise sold as the Radeon Instinct MI50 and MI60. That heritage is why it still turns up in AI shopping lists years after it was discontinued: 16 GB of HBM2 on a 4096-bit bus delivering a full terabyte per second of bandwidth, a figure no consumer card matched for years afterwards, and a published double precision rate of 3.46 TFLOPS, one quarter of its 13.8 TFLOPS FP32. That is a deliberate cut from the half rate the Instinct parts run on identical silicon. What it does not have is matrix hardware: Vega's 27.7 TFLOPS FP16 is Rapid Packed Math on the vector units, and no BF16, FP8, INT8 or INT4 figure was ever published. Bandwidth per dollar, not arithmetic, is the reason to look at one.
